IMPORTANCE OF VISIONARY LEADERSHIP FOR AN ACTIVE ADMINISTRATION: AN APPLICATON IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS IN HATAY
Abstract :
Even though the concept of leadership dates back to the early history of humanity, the studies on the subject of leadership increased after the Industrial Revolution. There are many studies, accumulated data, interpretations and theories on the subject. The changing understanding of administration brought about changes in types of leaders and administrators. The visionary leadership, different from other typologies of administration, emerged recently. This understanding of leadership requires the leader of a particular institution to administer and keep up-to-date his or her organization in accordance with the expectations of (citizen-customer) service receivers and based on a visionary and humanist approach. As the public administration increasingly becomes citizen-centered, the application of visionary leadership by public administrations has become more necessary. This study examines the attitudes and opinions of public administrators about leadership and visionary leadership in Hatay province.
