Abstract :
This study explores teachers’ opinion considering the method, goal, and content of Social Studies Thought as Citizenship Transmission, this study is based on survey model. Samples of this study are composed of social studies teachers and elementary teachers who work in the city of Kayseri. The data were collected by 444 Social Studies teachers and elementary teachers who are currently working in Kayseri. In the research as a total for obtaining Quantitive data “Approaching Social Studies Thought as Citizenship Transmission Subject Scale” which was developed by Barr, Barth and Shermiss (1978) and adopted into Turkish by Ersoy Kozan by used. As a result of the research Social Studies Thought as Citizenship Transmission, teacher opinions related with mission and content don’t show significant difference according to sex, but teacher opinions of Social Studies Thought as Citizenship Transmission approach concerned with method size show significant differences according to gender. In addition to this, significant differences were determined in teacher opinions due to their branch and seniority status.
