Abstract :

Kadıköyü nün Romanı and Ülker Fırtınası are Safiye Erol s two works examining the conflict of traditional values , valuable judgments going into change between generations and life styles with westernalization of our society in the first years of Republic. In these works combining with the writer s various experiences, new generation is under the influence of culture which originated from the west , because the period that they were born and grown up is the first years of Republic when it happened to pass from east culture to west culture as nation and cultural difference showed itself in every part. In these years it is normal new generation has conflict with old generation especially in specific fields. The aim of this work is to research the causes of social and cultural difference by following the two works of Safiye Erol; to find how the change adventure called as Westernilaze begins; to answer the causes pushing Anatolian society to become different or as the same and to answer the question in what fields we come mostly across the generation gap.
