Abstract :
Art education can be called as the effort of having people to grow up and make them conscious of art and culture. Teacher has an important role on art education in Fine Arts and Sport High Schools. The problems in art education should be eradicated in order to increase quality. The purpose of this study is to investigate opinions of art teachers about problems in art teaching. Qualitative research methodology was used in this study. The participants of the study were 66 art teachers. As a result of the analysis of the public survey through the method of qualitative data analysis, problems in art education have been classified as (1) management, (2) physical environment, instructional material and access to resources, (3) educational system and policy, (4) art teacher, (5) get student and examinations, (6) curriculum planning, and (7) sociocultural environment and myths. How the problems facing art education can be handled and how the field can be improved is discussed on the basis of research findings.
