While developing the rubric, field survery was done and aims of 4th grade were benefited. According to results of the Kendall W test, applied by taking the views of two experts for the validity of rubric, it was detected that there was an accordance among pointers in the scoring of the journals of the text. By taking the average scores given to journals by two pointers, journals were evaluated. Journals written by students related to texts helped students improve their writing skills. Students journals can be used in Turkish lessons as an assessment tool for evaulating writing skills.
