Abstract :
It was seen that the domestic politics in Turkey was parallel to the two-pole structure of international relations during the Cold War. The article aim to express that Turkey, who preferred to take sides with the USA during the Cold War period, was supported by the USA as well as gotten reaction in some of the problems experienced. In this framework, it will be assessed the effects of coups and international dimensions of the Turkish democracy. The paper also addresses the effects of the USA on domestic policy and democratization process in Turkey especially at the times of pro-Soviet policies followed and pro-Soviet leaders were on duty. S. Hungtington’s waves of democratization and opposite of democracy movements will be considered in the article and mentioned on military coups which are described as the opposite of democracy waves in Turkey and how they were impressed within international policy.
