Abstract :
Determinative noun phrase consists of a combination of two different nouns which they connect to each other by suffix. Determinative noun phrases is defined and worked in term of suffix and meaning property by linguist. Especially in term of the meaning in these studies who was an attempt to capture more than one meaning. In this study is investigated ownership (possesison) meaning which adopted by all the authors. Determinative noun phrases transfer many meanings as place, time, part-whole, and kinship. The best known of these meanings is possession (possessive) meaning. This study is a descriptive study. In this study is investigated possessive meaning, uncertainty in possessive meaning, types of possessive. In the result of this study is determined that there are 22 different possessive meanings in Turkish. The ambiguity between ownership and owned in possessive meaning occurs to result from a uncompleteness as the meaning. Owned and having concepts is belonging ownership (possesison) meaning forming and creating which have been distinguished from each other as human beings do or not, ownership / belonging, congenital / post, concrete / abstract, kinship / kinship non-human, / have been. This distinction is made for the English physical, temporary, permanent, non-transferable, abstract, lifeless and inanimate transferable transferable developed in different divisions.
