Abstract
Growing cities in time have become threatening effects for human and all life forms as a source of various problems. Increasing negatives of city life on the people, led to new city alternatives for better environment and social life where “sustainable cities” appeared to be most preferred alternative. In this study, a variety of urban socio-economic and political problems caused by metropolitan areas were investigated and whether sustainable cities can be an alternative or not. According to the study results, rapid and unplanned urbanization created an unhealthy environment for people that live in metropolitan areas and hence city inhabitants are deeply strained in ever increasing challenges. Also the study focus on creating sustainable cities can help to eliminate the negative effects of metropolitan areas and can to reduce damage to nature and natural assets and finally can contribute in achieving and ensuring sustainability of existing ecosystems.
