Abstract :
Turkey and other countries have attempted to change their political regimes as a result of occasional political instability of parliamentary regime. Presidential and semi-presidential regimes are seen a means to overcome governmental crises of parliamentarism by instating strong executive. This study analyzes the characteristics of presidential and semi-presidential regimes, evaluates their advantages and disadvantages for our political system in comparative perspective, and list possible problems of their implementation in Turkey.
