Abstract :
Remote reconciliation is one of the main criteria in developing students’ abstract thinking skills. In this study, the distribution ratio of remote reconciliation in relation to grades in the texts which are in the Turkish language course books of the Ministry of National Education Publications for the 6th, 7th and 8th grades was identified. Findings obtained were compared in the framework of the criteria determined. The purpose of the study is to determine in texts the distribution ratio of remote reconciliation usages which are considered as criteria in developing abstract thinking skill and to determine how much they are effective in developing students’ abstract thinking skills. Population of the study consists of the Turkish Language course books of the Ministry of National Education Publications for the 6th 7th and 8th grades. Sample of the study consists of 56 reading texts from the course books. In the first part of the study, qualifications that the course books should have were addressed in terms of content, subject, language and expression. Reconciliation, which is a semantic concept, was emphasized while evaluating the qualifications that the course books should have. In the second part, the relation between reconciliation usage and abstract thinking was addressed. In the third part, the distribution ratio of reconciliations in the Turkish language course books for the 6th, 7th and 8th grades was determined. In the fourth part, remote reconciliations were compared in the framework of text types, grades, themes and inter textual criteria.
