ÖMER SEYFETTİN’S SATIRIZATION TO POLITICAL CULTURE
Abstract :
Ömer Seyfettin (1884-1920), had witnessed social progress of pre and post II. Constitutional period. The writer thought over this progress as an intellectual and reflected his ideas to his works as an artist. In this study, “Hürriyete Layık Bir Kahraman”** by Ömer Seyfettin will be analyzed. This work is the entrance of his novel Efruz Bey and it also can be read as a short story separately. The story presents remarkable materials about the period: the subject of the story is one of important phases of alteration of Turkish society; and it refers to some important political milieus and actors like Sarai***, Babıâli****, Jon Turk movement. It can be determined that, the writer has many satirical ideas to the political culture of the period he lived in. Ömer Seyfettin, indicts this political culture for shallowness, cult of personality, formation of fake heroes and construction the reality through falsehood.
