Abstract :
The aim of this study is to state if there is a meaningful difference in the aspect of some psyco-social variables between a group of primary education teacher candidates by whose assertiveness level and communication skills are analysed. The sudy is designed in the scanning model (karasar, 1999: 77) that aims to describe a situation either in the past or at present as it is. “Individual Situation Form” prepared by the researchers and including the individual psycho-social featues of candidate teachers, “Rathus assertiveness schedule (RAS)” developed by Rathus (1973) and “Teacher Communication Skills Scale (TCSS) developed by Çetinkanat (1998) are used for collecting data.132 candidate teachers studying at 1st and 4th grade in Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Educational Faculty Primary School Teacher Education Department in 2009-2010 educational year constitude the environment and the sampling of study. According to the results of the research, it is revealed that there is meaninful difference between the level of assertiveneses of the candidate teachers and evaluating themselves on intelligence and skills. No meaningful difference in both dependent variables is found according to other psyco-social variables. By the way, a weak, nearly medium stage relation is found between the assertiveness and communication skills of the candidate teachers.
