Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to assess the views of Turkish student teachers on elements related to the acquisition and development of writing skills that are effective. In this study, interviewing method within the framework of qualitative research was used. The research was carried out working group consisting of 125 Turkish student teachers in Faculty of Education Erciyes University. The working group established through the First and second education students taking the course Comprehension Techniques II: Writing Education in 2012-2013 Spring Semester. The working group was created having a specified goal and cluster sampling method. Descriptive statistical method was used in the data analysis about personal information of student teachers. The data obtained from the interviewing forms were analyzed through content analysis. As a result of this study, the student teachers in the study group referred to the positive and negative factors affecting the development of the acquisition of writing skills. The first three positive factors mentioned are as follows: ‘Reading Habits (read Products), %18.67’, ‘Family and Environment [2], %14.67’ and ‘Observation, image and imagination %8.8’. The first three negative factors mentioned are as follows: ‘Training of teachers cannot give necessary and sufficient for the development of writing skills, %1.33’; ‘Ignoring individual differences in the development of writing skills, %1.33; ‘Negative attitude towards writing; The belief that it cannot express thoughts in writing, %1.07.
