TURKISH TEACHER CANDIDATES’ TEXT PERCEPTIONS
Abstract :
Textbooks and texts have been used as the most basic main tools in the development of language skills. In the 21st century, the diversification of language in terms of usage areas and the emergence of new literacies have actually changed the perception of the text completely. When approached with different perspectives to the teaching of Turkish language, it is possible to articulate that the texts can vary entirely depending on the fact. Thereafter, when many classifications revealed as results of text linguistics studies were taken into consideration it can be seen that the text types and features employed in teaching Turkish are various. The present study whose aim is to describe the Turkish teacher candidates , who study at Department of Turkish education, opinions regarding the perception of the text has been carried out with the case study, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The research data have been collected from 29 first and fourth year undergraduate students studying in Turkish Education Department of Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University through interviews and ‘text perception forms’. As a result of the research study it has been revealed that the majority of students participated in the study perceive the notion of text as whole written pieces and have text preferences appropriate to the traditional approach and lastly they have difficulties in categorizing the text types.
