EXAMINING MOTIVATION TOWARDS WEB BASED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS IN TERMS OF DIFFERENT VARIABLES
Abstract :
The aim of the study is to determine if pre-service teachers’ motivation towards web based professional development differ or not according to gender, department and internet usage skills variables. In the research, cross sectional survey model was used. The study was performed with 433 pre-service teachers in total who are studying in the second term of 2012-2012 education year in faculty of education at a state university from Karadeniz part of Turkey. In order to determine the pre-service teachers’ motivation towards web based professional development in the study, motivation towards web based professional development scale developed by Kao, Wu and Tsai (2011) and adapted into Turkish Çakır and Horzum (2013) was used. It was found that there is not statistically significant difference according to gender and internet usage skills of pre-service teachers in motivation towards web based professional development. Besides it was found that there is u statistically significant difference according to department of pre-service teachers in motivation towards web based professional development sub factors of personal interest and social stimulation.
