AN INVESTIGATION OF SOME VARIABLES RELATED STUDENTS’ ATTITUDES TOWARDS PERFORMANCE ASSIGNMENTS
Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to investigate the place of the performance assignment givenat biology lessons in the education system and students attitudes towards these assignments. The study population consisted of high school students who studied at high school in Izmir in 2014 - 2015 spring semester. The sample of the survey is comprised of 257 students, studied in two different Anatolian high schools. The Data were analyzed by using an statistic Package Program.A significant difference was not found for students attitude to biology performance assignments at first grade according to gender or schools. When the result of the research has been thought in general, students have realized the benefits of the assignments [as improving their skills of using technology and strengthening the topics], but also they have had the negative opinion for these homework. It is observed that most of the students have stayed unstable for some subjects such as whether the assignments are given appropriate for their purpose or not, the contribution to their high level cognitive skills, increasing their interest. The results of the research examined carefully and some suggestions have been presented for students and teachers mainly.
