Abstract :
This study aims to determine the effect of creative drama on students’ achievement by gathering the experimental researches which investigated the effect of the creative drama on students’ achievement, and synthesize the findings of these researches. The researches in the scope of this study were obtained from the scientifi c databases of National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education, ProQuest Citations, Google Academic, and EBSCO by utilizing the keywords such as drama, creative drama, achievement and academic achievement. From these databases, totally 65 studies consisting of 23 articles, 37 theses and 5 dissertations, which examined the effect of creative drama on students’ academic achievement, were reached. All the data gathered from the experimental researches were analyzed by using ‘Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA)’ and ‘Data Analysis and Statistical Software (STATA)’ programs. As there was heterogeneity among the researches included in this study, effect size was calculated by utilizing random effects model. Research findings indicated that creative drama method increased the students’ academic achievement. Besides, differences of students’ academic achievement on teaching-learning environments in which creative drama and other teaching methods were applied were investigated within moderator variables. It was concluded that while there was a difference in the effect size of the researches in terms of only the moderator variables of geographic regions and teaching fields, there was found no difference in the effect size of the researches in terms of the teachi ng grade and
