Abstract :
The aim of this study is to determine Turkish education students’ metaphorical perceptions related to writing skills. The research is carried out using one of the qualitative research, phenomenology. The working group of this study consists of Mustafa Kemal University Department of Turkish Education’s 98 students. In order to collect research data have been developed a form that can write metaphor and be able to express themselves clearly. The form is based on that students completed the sentence: “writing.................because ................”. It was expected to focus on only a metaphor and to clearly articulate the justification related to subject from candidate teachers. Data obtained has been evaluated via content analysis method. The data analysis process included coding and extracting data, compiling a sample metaphor, developing categories, validity and reliability and quoting metaphors by statistical data. As a result, 5 conceptual categories (Transfer, Life, Art, Freedom, Eternity) and 72 metaphor have been determined. The results of this study have been identified that the most developed metaphor category transfer (41.6%) while the least developed category Eternity (8.3%) by students.
