Abstract :
The aim of this study is to specify the views of foreign students learning Turkish andTurkish lecturers in taking responsibility in learning process. The responsible actors and the responsibilities of students and lecturers were determined. A case study, a qualitative research design, was used in this study. The mutually supportive views of the students and lecturers were examined. The research sample consists of fifteen foreign students learning Turkish as a foreign language and five of their lecturers. The research data were collected in semi-structured interviews. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. The data were examined using content analysis and presented as codes, categories and themes. The research found that students and lecturers were of the opinion that the lecturers had moreresponsibility for learning. It also found that they were aware of their responsibilities andthat their mutual expectations contributed to the learning process. These results willcontribute to this field since they specified the responsibilities of students and lecturers inteaching Turkish to foreign people.
