Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of psychological capital on the teacher’s intention to leave. The sample of this research consists of 302 teachers in 27 schools that were selected randomly from the middle schools at Hatay’s Kırıkhan district at 2014-2015 academic year. Quantitative analyses were performed with the program of SPSS 22. Besides, in addition to quantitave study 10 teachers were interviewed through a semi-structured interview form. Qualitative findings were analyzed through content analysis method. According to the quantitative findings, psychological capital has a negative effect on teachers’ intentions to leave. Qualitative findings show that psyhological capital can increase teacher’s intentions to leave contrary to quantitave findings and decrease in paralel to quantitave findings. According to the qualitative findings, some teachers think that psychological capital has a positive effect on their intentions to leave, but the majority of teachers don’t think so. It may be beneficial for school managers to invest in developing and strengthening psychological capital of teachers, if they want teachers’ intentions to leave to decrease.
