    PARENTS’ PERCEPTIONS ON THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION

  • Abstract
    This study carried out to determine parents’ perceptions about their involvement in preschool education and the change of their perceptions as regards various variables (parents’ gender, marital status, economic status, parents’ profession, time allocated to the care of child actively, school type, etc.) is designed in a relational survey model. The study is conducted with parents of childrenwho participate in public/private preschool education instutitons which are chosen from low, middle and high socio-economical class and located in a city in Mediterreanan region. 398 parents chosen with stratified sampling method are involved in the study. Research data are collected via “Parent Involvement Scale”. Descriptive statistics, parametric (one way variance analysis) and nonparametric (mann whitney u test, kruskal wallis h test) test statistics have been conducted for data analysis. Findings of study reveal that the involvement level of parents in preschool education is high and the variables which lead to differences in involvement levels of parents in preschool education appear as “parents’ gender, economic status, parents’ profession, time allocated to the care of child actively and type of institution child participates and parents’ involvement doesn’t differ as regards parents’ educational level, age and gender of children.
