Abstract :
The aim of this study is to examine the scientific epistemological belief levels of the students in Physical Education and SportsHigh Schools of different universities during the 2011-2012 Academic Year in terms of different variables. Survey methodhas been used in the study.The participants of the study are the first and fourth class students in Physical Education and SportsHigh Schools in AhiEvran, Selçuk and GaziUniversities. The data has beencollectedthrough the “Scientific Epistemological Beliefs Scale” designed by Pomeroy (1993) and adapted into Turkish by Deryakulu and Bıkmaz (2003). The internal consistency coefficient of the scale is 0.91. The data obtained is analyzed through SPSS 17 Package Programme and for the difference between the variables, 0.05 significance level has been taken into consideration. At the end of the study, it has been found that although there is no meaningful between the students’ university and gender variable and scientific epistemological beliefs; a significant relationship has been observed in class variable. The point averages that the fourth year students have taken from the Scientific Epistemological Scale are higher than the first year students have taken.
