Abstract :
Universities aim to prepare the young people for their adult roles, to make them gain societal values and to equip them with the necessary information to have an occupation. Private courses are official teaching institutions which aim to take the students’ education level to a specific level and to a standard by giving them degrees, scores and certificates. A successful studying process arises from the harmony between the intended experiences and future experiences. Leisure time, which expresses free participation and creative results, feeds people with right experiences and raises them as morally strong and virtuous people. The experiences undergone during an education process require a person to control his/her feelings and to adapt to a society. The educational aims of leisure time can be listed as group integrity and cooperation, harmony between groups and within the group, accepting social relationships and genders, expression of grace and beauty, protecting harmony in society, preventing aggression and bad behaviors, and protecting national and international reputation. The aim of this study is to determine how a total of 388 university students (175 male and 163 female) make use of their leisure time and also to determine their reasons for attending a university. The results of the study showed that the students’ top reason for attending university is future career expectations with a percentage of 55,9%. In addition, it can be seen that the students mostly made use of leisure time activities to provide themselves with short time energy.
