Abstract :
The aim of this study is to analyze and evaluate the technical elements used in the tournament that led to the victory of the 2010 Football World Cup Champion Spain. DVDs of the Spanish team’s performance in the 2010 Football World Cup were analyzed digitally by “MUNA Match Analyze Program”. The analysis includes: The start direction of attacks, entries into the attacking third and penalty box, winning possession, losing possession, shooting and strikes at goal, and passes in game zones. These are the ‘Key Performance Indicators’ (KPI) that were used to conduct this study. The match analysis has shown that Spain’s team performance was more different than their opponents. Spain preferred the central area for attacks and was superior at organizing itself in the central zone. Compared to its opponents, Spain had twice the amount of shoots on target. Standard positions such as free-kick were used more frequently by Spain than by its opponents.
