Title Of Article :
AN ANALYSIS OF ANAEROBIC POWER VALUES OF BASKETBALL PLAYERS ACCORDING TO THEIR LEAGUE TABLE RANKINGS
Abstract :
This study aimed at determining whether the anaerobic power values of basketball players had an impact on their league table rankings. The study covered 51 male basketball players, all volunteers, who study at universities and play in the basketball teams of their universities, with a training age of 5 or more, aged 20,45 ± 1,40, 183,27 ± 7,22 cm in height and 80,27 ± 12,98 kg in weight in average. The ID information was used to determine the ages of the subjects. Their height was measured by means of a height-measuring device in cm whereas their body weight was measured by means of an electronic weighing machine in kg. The subjects were measured for their perpendicular jumping levels to calculate their anaerobic power. The SPSS software package was used for data analysis. Measurement results were presented as median and standard deviation. ANOVA was used to determine the differences among groups. P 0.05 was defined as the level of significance. The study revealed that the anaerobic power level of Team 1, who won the title in the competition, was the highest while that of Team 5, who ranked in the last place, was the lowest. In conclusion; it can be suggested that there is a positive correlation between anaerobic power, which is critical in basketball, and game performance.
