Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop a scale that determines the attitude and behaviors of Turkish football fans on partisanship. The scale was applied to 285 people who were selected with random sampling method among the fans of Trabzonspor that struggling in Sport Toto Super League of Turkey and Samsunspor and MKE Ankaragücü Football Clubs struggling in PTT League 1. “Football Supporter Fanaticism Scale” (FSFS) that was developed by a survey with 47 questions has 13 items in total. As a result of the reliability analysis (Cronbach’s Alpha) made to reveal the internal consistency of the answers given to FFPS by the audience, the reliability coefficient is found 0.875.In order to determine the construct validity of the scale, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis are made. The suitability of the sample size is determined with KMO test (0.891) and Bartlett’s sphericity test is used to determine if the data was gained by multivariate normal distribution. The factor loading of the survey items are found between 0.466-0.775. The data related to validity and reliability shows that FSFS is a valid and reliable scale.According to the scale criteria, total points gained by the audience over 13 questions is between 13-21, the fans are named as “fanatics”, if the total points are between 22-30 they are named as “team supporters”, and if the total points are between 31-52, they are named as “football spectator”.
