Abstract :
The aim of this study was to analyze correlation between rated perceived exertion (RPE), max heart rate (maxHR), average heart rate (avg HR) and workload of elite referees during soccer match and to assess physiological parameters between matches they officiated in super league and first division. The study was carried out in 2014-2015 season on 15 referees who officiated matches in super league and first division. Referees were examined physiologically (maxHR, avgHR, RPE, workload, recovery, heart rate (after one minute)) separately in first and second halves of the season. Wilcoxon analysis was used to determine the difference between leagues while Pearson correlation was used to determine correlations between HR values, workload, and RPE. When the matches that elite referees officiated in super league and first division were assessed physiologically, it was found that the referees’ HR values were higher while they were officiated in super league matches when compared with first division matches, however the difference wasn’t any statistical differences (p 0,05). As a result of correlations, statistically significant positive relation was found between RPE and maxHR, avg HR and workload (p 0.05). As a result of assessments, it can be said that there isn’t any physically difference on tempo and sufficiency of an elite level referee while officiating in two different leagues.
