THE EXAMINATION OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER CANDIDATES’ GAINS OF ERICSON’S PSYCHOSOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PERIODS
Abstract :
The aim of this study was to examine physical education teacher candidates’ gains of Ericson’s psychosocial development periods in terms of different variables. A total of 682 physical education teacher candidates, 282 women ( Χ age= 21.00, Sd=2.00) and 400 men ( Χ age= 21.79, Sd=2.20), with a mean age of 21.26 (Sd=2.15) from 7 different universities participated in the study voluntarily.Data was collected with Eric Ericson’s “psychosocial development periods scale”. Descriptive statistics analyses (mean, standard deviation, frequency and percent), independent samples t-test, one way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Tukey Post-hoc analysis were used in data analysis. Pearson Correlation test was used for the significance of the association between independent variables and margin of error was accepted as 0.05. Significant difference was fund between gender and the year of study while no significant difference in terms of university entering point and doing sport with license.
