Abstract
The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship between competitive sport and moral. What is the moral goal of competitive sports? What sort of relationship is there between competition and feeling of winning? In the light of these questions, the study focuses on formal and informal structure of the competitive sport, examination of competitive sport in terms of moral tendency with a specific focus on such categorizations as field, gender and category and the effects of professionalism on moral. There are very important effects of competition and professionalism on sport moral. However, one can easily claim that these effects may have detrimental effects on sport moral. The idea of winning at all costs, which is very widespread in the sport fields, leaves huge gaps in terms of sport moral. The meaning of success changes, and result-oriented approaches are adopted, which, in turn, ignores the process itself. For example, unfair gains, cheating behaviors, and rule violation are totally ignored if winning exists. On the contrary, this result is regarded as a success. As time goes by, there will be a lot of negative points in the society. Sport, however, should be a tool in the character development, and sport environments should act as a positive model for children and youth.
