Abstract :
This study aims to determine the personality types of students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences in terms of the variables of gender and department. The research group of the study consists of randomly selected 116 female and 190 male students (n=306) studying at Selçuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences during the 2014-2015 academic year. The data were collected through Personal Information Form developed by the researchers to find out the demographic information of the participants and Five Factor Personality Inventory, Short Form (5FPI SF) adapted by Tatar (2005). Statistical analysis of the data was performed by using SPSS 16 package program. Independent samples t-test was used to find out differences of the factors in the Personality Inventory in terms of the variable of gender, one-way analysis of variance was used for the comparison of sub- dimensions in the 5FPI SF in terms of the variable of department and Tukey HSD was used to find out which groups caused the difference. The level of significance was accepted as 0.05. In conclusion, it was found that gender was not effective in determining the personality types of the participants; however, differences were found in terms of department.
