Title Of Article :
Using Geophysical and Drilling Values in Detecting Groundwater Aquifers around Small Melen River: Example of Düzce
Abstract :
The electric resistivity method was applied to investigate the under ground water around the Küçük Melen river in Yörukler Beçi provision of Düzce in the University campus. This study includes the measures of vertical electric sounding (VES) that apply Schlumberger electrode system. The study area is situated near the small Melen River out of the border of Düzce University campus. Study area is situated at the place of alluvial deposits near the in the bed of Küçük Melen River in campus area which have approximately 40 m deep (5-10 lt/sn) and 2 drilling well and water tank. The amount of water was investigated to be increased or not, drilling new wells or increasing the depth of wells around the present well to supply increasing necessity of in sufficient amount of drinking or utilization water in return increasing population of University. The data were collected from four locations and evaluated. It was understood that there are sandy gravelly layer between and 60-256 Ώm changes at the lowest bottom layer and sandy gravelly layer between 112-1695 Ώm and 48-60 under the cover layer changes respectively.
