Retrospective Study of Intraaxial Posterior Fossa Tumors

Abstract
Aim and method: The aim of this study was to evaluate the 44 cases which were hospitalized and operated with intraaxial posterior fossa tumor between 2005 and 2010 in Ankara Training and Research Hospital. Results: None of our 32 patients with short symptom period (shorter than 3 months) died after surgery. In contrary, 2 of 3 patients with long symptom period (longer than 12 months) died after surgery. Coclusion: Diagnose and early surgery becomes easier by increasing the number of health centers which contain Magnetic Rezonans Imaging (MRI) devices. Thus, the period between beginning of symptoms and time of surgery becomes shorter.
