Thrombophilia and Severe Preeclampsia: Case Report and Review of the Literature

Preeclampsia occurs in 3- 14 % of pregnancies and is one of the major causes of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Congenital or acquired trombophilia may play an important role in the pathology of preeclampsia because preeclampsia accompanies with endothelial damage and coagulation problems. In this case report, we aimed to interpret the current literature, the relationship between severe preeclampsia and thrombophilia, and their effects on pregnancy outcomes.
