    ANTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT AND ANKLE INJURIES ON SYNTHETIC SURFACE SPORTS AREAS

  • Abstract
    Objective: We evalute the patients performed anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery that were applicated our clinic with knee and ankle soft tissue trauma on the synthetic surface sports areas. We research the clinical results of the patients who had anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery.Materials and Methods: Between April 2011 and March 2013 24 patients who were operated for ACL injury in our clinic as a result of trauma on synthetic surface sports areas were evaluated. All of these patients had ankle injuries. In the pre-operative period and in the last post-operative control all the operated knees were evaluated with Lysholm and Tegner activity scale. Ankle injuries were evaluated with FAAM (foot and ankle ability measure) pre-operatively and in the last post-operative control. The mean follow-up period is 8.3 (6-16) months.Results: Pre-operative and post-operative knee scores were statistically evaluated and a significant increase was determined. p 0.001.Conclusion: As a result of our study ankle injuries and anterior cruciate ligament injuries were determined in high rate on synthetic surface sports areas and clinical outcome after ACL surgery was determined to be good.
