PERFLUORODECALIN RESIDUE IN THE ANTERIOR CHAMBER: REPORT OF TWO CASES

Abstract
Perfluorodecalin liquid is used as a temporaryintraoperative intraocular tamponade invitreo-retinal surgeries. In this study, 65 and71-years-old two cases underwent pars planavitrectomy surgeries with the diagnosis ofrhegmatogenous retinal detachment and perfluorodecalinliquid was used as a temporaryintraocular tamponade for both of the patients.Both patients were pseudophakic and posteriorcapsules were intact. Perfluorodecalin residueswere detected in the anterior chamber inthe first week postoperatively for the first caseand in the first month for the second case. Theperfluorodecalin liquid residues were removedby performing anterior chamber irrigation 2weeks after the surgery for the first case and7 months after the surgey for the second case.Corneas were clear and there was not any cornealtoxicity findings for both cases before andafter the anterior chamber irrigation .
