TERCAN IN FAITH TOURISM

Tercan which is a district of Erzincan has hosted many civilizations just like many regions of Turkey. Due to the distinction of being the hosting region, Tercan has contained within itself many of both religious and historical structures of that period of time. However, Tercan which has a rich potential in terms of cultural resources; because of many reasons such as lack of information, transportation difficulties and so forth, did not have / does not have a chance to be made a good use of in terms of tourism and faith tourism in particular. As a matter of fact failing in paying attention to this fact causes the cultural assets of Tercan being forgotten and lost. In this context, in our article named Tercan in Faith Tourism which is written in order to demonstrate the potential of religious tourism of Tercan, the definition of the terms of faith, tourism, faith tourism are mentioned. And then, the historical and geographical structures of Tercan are discussed and the assets of Tercan as part of Faith Tourism are mentioned. Because, by this study it was also intended to perform the efforts to recognize / introduce religious touristic structures in Tercan. And an overall evaluation is made in the conclusion of this study.
