Abstract
In this study, morphological, phylogenetic and zoogeographical characteristics of Pseudophoxinus Bleeker, 1860 genus with a very high rate of endemism in Anatolia living mostly in cold springs, small lakes, slow-flowing rivers and dense vegetation is discussed. It is suggested that the genus (distributed in Balkans, Anatolia, Middle East, Caspian Sea Basin and North Africa) can be origin of Anatolia and Middle East on based molecular and morphological research last decade. In this research, classification models on based morphological of Bogutskaya et al. (2006) with mitochondrial and nuclear gene datas of Perea et al. (2010) are used. Phylogenetic tree models with Anatolia and Middle East origin are compared and examined the relationships between morphological and molecular features of the genus. Furthermore, distribution area and habitat characteristics of this genus which has presently 18, species are re-evaluated according to the literature.
