Abstract
Ottoman period has been a significant epoch in which Turkish Music Culture maintained its development multi dimensionaly and left its impact on other components of culture. Instrument figures depicted on miniatures present very important information that shed light on the period about the musical culture of the society they belong to. In this study, musical instruments of the period which are significant components in determining the discripancy between time and location in Ottoman Period Turkish Music culture have discussed. The best example for this case is; the performance painted by Abdülcelil Çelebi-Levni and named as “Surname-i Vehbi” in which the festival of the circumsition ceremony of Ahmed III’s four princes in 1720 is narrated. Aiming to characterize the technique and anatomical structure of the period’s musical instruments, this study is derived from the descriptive researches by using historical patterns. Upon this purpose, written and visual materials about the subject are referred.
