Abstract
This research was conducted to find out learning styles of prospective social studies teachers at the Department of Primary Education in Faculty of Education in Ondokuz Mayıs University in 2009–2010 academic year. In order to collect data “Personal Information Form” and “Kolb’s Learning Styles Inventory” were used. The research focused on whether any difference exists between learning styles of prospective social studies teacher, and their genders, ages and year in college. Frequency tables, percentiles, and chi-square analysis were employed for the data analysis. The results showed that the majority of prospective social studies teachers (% 76) preferred assimilating (% 38) and converging (% 38) learning styles. The results also demonstrated that significant difference exists among prospective teachers learning styles according to their age and year in college; however no difference exists depends on prospective teachers genders.
