Abstract
This study aims to explore Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences and the Primary Education students’ learning English according to five different situations; these are gender, discipline, department, family occupation, settlement, and university-variables. The population of the study is the students of Education Faculties of Erciyes, Rize, Selcuk, Siirt and Yüzüncü Yıl Universities. The sample of the study is 658 university students who take English I and II lessons. Joy Reid’s 5-likert type questionnaire consisting of 30 items was used in collecting data. Out of 680 questionnaires, 658 of them were evaluated. The data was statistically analyzed in using frequency, t-test and one-way annova. This study indicates that there are significant differences between male and female students’ learning English according to departments, family locations and universities. At first, a small scale study measuring students’ learning style should be carried out and then the English lessons must be taught in line with these findings.
