    A Research Profile of School (The Sample of Kars)

  • Abstract
    The aim of this research is to find out the basic problems and the physical features of primary schools in the district and centre of Kars city. To achieve this goal the answers are seeked for the following questions. a) What are the physical features of primary schools in Kars. b) What are the main income sources of primary schools in Kars? c) What are the most important problems of the primary schools in Kars? This study which aims to find out descriptive features and basic problems of primary schools; carried out in survey and quantitative research techniques are used. The universe of this research is made up of 107 school managers who work in Kars city centre and seven district (Akyaka,Arpaçay, Digor, Kağızman, Selim, Susuz and Sarıkamış). “The School Profile” questionnaire which is developed by the researcher, is used as a data collecting tool. To find out the descriptive features of the school; percent value,frequency, artihmetic mean and Standard deviation vaules are used. As a result of this research the school managers said %74.8 of the primary schools in Kars have no gym and %6.6 have no informatics and technology classes. The %28.3 of the school managers stated that “there is no science lab in their school” and %33,01 said “there is a science lab but it is insufficient” The school managers in Kars also noted that as a main income source; first the parents, second; benefactor citizens and thirdly income from the school cafeteria. According to the school managers in Kars the most important problem of the schools is “physical problems”, secondly “ the view of the community for education” and thirdly” the teacher competence and financial deficiency and lastly the education system oriented problems.
