Abstract
This study aims to analyze the short story “Karanfilsiz” by Adalet Ağaoğlu who manages to be one of the leading figures of Turkish Literature with her distinctive style in terms of Critical Discourse Stylistics. CDS can be defined as an approach that analyzes literary or non-literary, written as well as spoken texts, aims at identifying linguistic features, forms and structures which affect the perception of a particular text, presents methods for analyzing the ideologies hidden in the surface structure of the texts or in writers’ particular choices of language use and through these methods focuses on ideologies, attitudes, values and worldviews implicit in the texts. Firstly developed by M.A.K. Halliday this method was advanced by John Haynes. Haynes’ model is composed of 11 subtitles. In the study “Karanfilsiz” was analyzed according to these 11 subtitles and in the short story in which the writer aims at reflecting the social atmosphere or condition based on the life of an individual who decorates truck haulages, how the writer presents her own emotions and ideas about this condition or the individual and which stylistic choices she makes use of are attempted to be revealed.
