Abstract
One of the main functions of the financial markets is to provide an environment in which fund supply and demand meet in most suitable conditions and where financial assets, especially stocks are to be traded with their real value. It is necessary to determine factors that affect prices to identify an optimal model to predict stock prices, In this study, financial data for banking and insurance companies traded in BIST (Istanbul Stock Exchange –ISE-) for the period of 2008-2012 was used and the relationship between stock prices and various accounting and firm characteristics was examined with the panel data analysis.
