The Use of Films to Help Students Gain Speaking Abılıty in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language

The use and utility of audiovisual tools in language teaching is a known phenomenon. Films are the most leading tools. It has been found out that using films in language areas effect the development of the speaking skill of the foreign language learners as the other language skills. In the body of literature, it is seen that there are few studies in our country and it is not enough while there is a lot of studies on the use of films in the foreign language teaching in the world. This demonstrates the importance of this study. In this study, the development of speaking skills of foreign students who learn Turkish through films was examined and samples of activities aimed at improving the skills of speaking through films, which teachers can use in foreign language Turkish lessons were offered.
