Responsible Consumption Researches in Turkey: A Review on National Studies and Dissertations

One of the indicators of countries economic development is the amount of personal consumption. However consumption that goes beyond certain levels and takes form with wrong preferences brings along environmental and social threats. In 1970s, awareness of those threats increased and numbers of actors were invited to collaboration to grow beneficial and less harmful consumption practices through common action plans. Since then, during this 45 year- time period, behavioral scientists also work to contribute to the knowledge necessary to change harmful consumption habits. However Turkey originated researches on the same topic have a recent history and they are limited. This research provide a literature review of the Turkish researches on responsible consumption behaviours. In this way it bring together a diverse body of knowledge about the various forms of responsible consumption and the effective factors. In this context, responsible consumption concept is introduced, previous researches from international literature are summarized, detailed information about researches on responsible consumption behaviours in Turkey is presented and suggestions for future researches are provided.
