Abstract
In this study, the relationship between geothermal greenhousing and physical/human geographical factors were evaluated in the province of Afyonkarahisar which constitutes a good example of using geothermal energy in greenhousing. The study was conducted in the province of Afyonkarahisar located in the inner west Anatolian section in the Western Anatolian Region. The city has many hot water springs because of its geological structure. Due to this advantage and its convenient transportation systems, investments on geothermal greenhousing increased in the city over the last 3-4 years.Geothermal greenhouse areas cover approximately 167 da in the city today. If the planned and ongoing projects are finalized, geothermal greenhouse areas will become much larger and reach 664 da in the near future. Existing geothermal greenhouses are mainly used to grow tomatoes and majority of production is exported. However, other agricultural products are expected to be grown in the planned geothermal greenhouse areas.
