Abstract
Due to largely dependence abroad about energy production, Turkey has to use its energy resources more efficiently and because of being an agricultural country, obligate it to perform more rational production techniques and agricultural resources. These two conditions are meet in Kâhta greenhouses. Creating of greenhouses based on decomposed hot oil waste water has been earned a new form to Kahta district which has limited agricultural production resources. The greenhouses located near to Yelkovan and Salkımbagi willages of Kahta District have 15 da area and established under the Supporting Programme for Rural Development Investments of 2010 by The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs with the support of 50% of the grant and its based on using the high value temperature decomposed water optaining from oil wells in the surrounding fields to heat the greenhouses. This study focused on the historical development of oil waste water based greenhouses in Kâhta, technical aspects of the system, the charactersitics and the potential of hot oil water, advantages, disadvantages and the future of such greenhouse method.
