Abstract
Fairly Chimneys are erosion type special to arid and semi-arid morphclimatic regions formed depending on geologic, geomorphologic and climatologic features. In formation of fairly chimneys type of rock, alternation level, seam slope, joint system has an important role. Fairly chimneys grow on hills where lithological units having different resistance surface. Between Cemil-Şahinefendi settlements, in upper basin region of Damsa river valley, fairly chimneys have grown on valley slope consisting of volcano sedimentary formations being horizontal structure. Hard layer in volcanic formation and blocks in pyroclastic units in Derbent valley form cap of fairly chimneys in Göreme, Paşabağ area. Formation of blocks which form cap of fairly chimneys between Cemil Şahinefendi area is different. The cap of these fairly chimneys are rock masses falling from cornices. They move in the direction of slope, gained stability on less resistless ignimbrites, fairly chimneys have formed through water and heavy rain erosion
