Abstract
Research field covers Anamur (Mersin) county. The area of the county is 1421 km2 and the average elevation is 1083 meters. Elevation increases from South to North and it reaches (became) a peak on Sarıtaş hill 2339 m in the northwest. The average annual temperature of the study area is between 19.3 0C (Anamur) and 8.8 0C (high region); annual rainfall varies between 921.6 mm (Anamur) and 1777.8 mm (high region). Different climate types seen in study area. Mediterranean coast, where Anamur county center is located too, is under the typical Mediterranean Climate but the plateau and mountainous areas behind the seashore is under the Oro Mediterranean Climate conditions. The main factor emergence of climate types and characteristics is rising of the Taurus Mountains like a wall behind the coast. This factor has reduced the frequency of low temperatures in the field of coastal areas and made possible of cultivation of some tropical agricultural products such as bananas. The same factors also reduced temperatures, shorten the period of vegetation, increase rainfall and orobiyo layer. Thus, pinus brutia which can grow up from coast to 1500 m is accompanied by species such as cedar, fir and juniper (at 1350 m). Herbaceous (alpine) takes place of forest cover in places which are higher than 2000 m.
