Abstract
The interaction between microorganisms and building stone materials has been experiencing all the time. Biodeterioration is a complex phenomenon, occurring in conjunction with other causes of decay. The phenomenology of this decay is also similar to other physical and chemical causes that microorganisms cause stone deterioration and that the deterioration process in the presence of microorganisms is more rapid than exclusively physical and chemical deterioration of stone. Much research has been centered on lichens, algae, fungi, and bacteria. This study is a literature research, especially natural stones used in the works of the foundation is on the biological deterioration factors.
